Cleveland Keeps A Couple Keys To Their Offense

The Cleveland Gladiators are bringing back dual-threat quarterback Arvell Nelson and offensive lineman D.J. Brandel. Nelson, 28, is returning for his second season in Cleveland. He is a local product from Cleveland that played his college ball at Texas Southern.

Nelson started the season at jack linebacker for Cleveland, and after many injuries Nelson got his first start in Week 5 vs the Orlando Predators. Nelson led all quarterbacks in rushing with 211 yards. He also finished the season with 11 scores.

Brandel, 25, is also returning for his second season season in Cleveland, He earned second team All-Arena honors last season. Brandel played in all but one game for the Glads in 2016.

He also showed off his hands, as well, something that is asked of lineman in the arena game a lot more compared to outdoor. Brandel brought in five passes for 36 yards and two touchdowns.

With Cleveland’s strength being the defensive side of the ball, and the addition of top level defensive back Rayshaun Kizer. The Glads are doing a nice job of rounding out a complete team.

The team also announced wide receiver Larry Beavers was placed on reassignment.
